ESTIA is an Engineering School, located in Bidart (basque coast), that offers graduate programs in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, information technology and industrial organization.
ESTIA is a trilingual school, and member of the “Conférence des Grandes Ecoles”.
In addition to the training mission, ESTIA develops:

  • Collaborative projects with industrial companies from Aquitaine region, France and Europe,
  • Projects of basic and applied research through ESTIA-Research laboratory,
  • Expertise and consulting for companies on innovative topics.

Research & teaching activity

The research work will be carried out within EneR-GEA team from ESTIA-Research laboratory. The research orientations of this group are clearly positioned in the field of renewable energies, in particular on the following problem: “how to make possible a better grid integration of the energy produced by the renewable energy sources and storage”.

Research activities of interest for this position include but are not limited to: power electronics for renewable energy integration and storage, automation (linear and non-linear control), MicroGrids SmartGrids, electrical vehiculs and data mining/processing.

Research activities with an emphasis on experimental approaches and links with industry will be strongly encouraged.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate and initiate creative research programs as well as supervise student internships.

As a member of ESTIA, he/she will be involved in teaching activities in in the graduate and master programs that ESTIA carries out, in electrical engineering and automation speciality.

Candidates Profile

The candidate must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field. An outstanding research background on renewable energy will be appreciated.
We will strongly appreciate the following skills:

  • Experience in teaching,
  • Participation in regional, national or international research projects,
  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink and/or DigSilent,
  • Experience in modelling and simulation of dynamic systems,
  • Knowledge in power electronics converters and control,
  • Knowledge in real-time simulation (OPAL-RT, dSpace…),
  • Fluency in technical French and English.

Your rigour, sense of responsibilities and scientific curiosity will be your main assets for this position.
