Ethiopiques 2010: an augmented improvized show

This event took place in Bayonne, South-West of France, in March 2010.It took the form of an improvized show in one of the artists' flat and was open to the public, providing a comfy, but a bit strange atmosphere. The Festival des Ethiopiques in Bayonne is held by a gathering of volunteer artists who seek to explore and unveil parts of the city not associated with arts. Public shows are held in private appartments, and singers, dancers, circus artists perform in uncommon places such as bakeries, shops, etc. In 2010 ESTIA participated in an improvized augmented show within the frame of the CARE ANR project. Gaël Domenger from Malandain Ballet Biarritz improvized a dance on a musical improvization by the saxophonist François Corneloup and the trumpetist Jean-Luc Capozzo. Alexis Clay and Elodie Decarsin from ESTIA, in the team led by Nadine Couture, used a motion capture suit to analyze the dancer's movements and extract his emotions. Those emotions were then sent to MARC, an expressive realistic face from LIMSI lab. Movement were also used to guide spheres that were projected in the flat.
