Since 2016, ESTIA has had an association contract with the University of Bordeaux

Engineering and Digital Sciences Department (SIN)

In April 2019, as part of the reorganisation of research at the University of Bordeaux, 11 departments were created.

The Engineering and Digital Sciences Department was created with the laboratories:

  • I2M,
  • IMB,
  • IMS,
  • LaBRI,
  • ESTIA-Research.

The department is headed by Henri Bertin, and steered through the Board of Directors, on which the ESTIA-Research management sits, and the Departmental Council. The University of Bordeaux is represented on ESTIA's Scientific Council.

Carnot ARTS Institute

Created in 2006, the Carnot label aims to develop partnership research, i.e. research carried out in partnership with socio-economic players, mainly companies (from SMEs to large groups), in response to their needs.

Partnership research is an important lever for the economy, as it encourages business innovation, which is a guarantee of competitiveness and growth. The Carnot institutes simultaneously carry out upstream research activities, designed to renew their scientific and technological skills, and a proactive policy of partnership research for the benefit of the socio-economic world.

In particular, the Carnot ARTS institute develops scientific skills and technological research to address the problems of designing, industrialising and manufacturing complex and innovative multi-technology manufactured products.

In 2019, ESTIA-Recherche's application was accepted by the Carnot ARTS institute to join its perimeter, and the renewal application submitted by the Carnot ARTS institute proposes that ESTIA Recherche be included. At the beginning of February 2020, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research renewed the Carnot label for the ARTS institute. Since then ESTIA-Research has been one of the 23 laboratories of the Carnot ARTS institute. For ESTIA-Research, this affiliation is an opportunity to gain recognition for its proactive policy in terms of partnered research for the benefit of the socio-economic world. It is a fantastic opportunity to extend its network of scientific partners and a source of funding for upstream research activities that will help us to find new resources. Since 2020, iC ARTS has been a member of ESTIA's Scientific Council.
