On Tuesday 24 March at 11 pm, ESTIA took part in a highlight of Basque cultural life by running kilometre 1496 of the Korrika. More than just a race, the Korrika is an extraordinary human and collective adventure: an uninterrupted relay race lasting 11 days and 10 nights that crosses the entire Basque Country to celebrate and keep alive Euskara, the Basque language.

Since its inception in 1980, this event has become one of the largest popular movements in support of a language, bringing together hundreds of thousands of participants in a festive, committed and deeply supportive atmosphere.
Every kilometre, passed from hand to hand via a symbolic baton containing a message revealed at the finish line, embodies transmission, continuity and a deep attachment to a living culture.
By taking part in the Korrika, ESTIA is fully embracing this collective spirit: supporting the Basque language, promoting cultural diversity and participating in a movement that goes beyond sport to become a true symbol of identity and shared values.

This leg at 11 pm, in the dead of night, perfectly illustrates the spirit of the Korrika: an energy that never stops, driven by those who believe in the power of a language and its future.

👏 Well done to our colleagues and students for their involvement, which reflects the values of commitment, transmission and openness championed by ESTIA.
