The first ESTIA Doctoral Students' Seminar was held at Olatu on Friday 23 January. The aim of this founding event was to address key issues in doctoral training and to strengthen the dynamics of the doctoral student community.
The morning was devoted to a number of key presentations. Adriana Aguilera, Head of the Doctoral Unit, gave a presentation on teaching at ESTIA and academic prospects after the doctorate, with a particular focus on qualifying as a lecturer. An introduction to research was then organised in the form of exchanges of practice between doctoral students, led by Jade Sagnard, Léo Bech Ripoll and Romain Deloffre. Finally, Rémi Duhamel led a session dedicated to the epistemology and ontology of his research positioning, providing participants with essential keys to structuring their scientific approach.
The seminar also provided an opportunity for a rich exchange between more experienced doctoral students on good practice in doctoral work: organisation, methodology, pitfalls to avoid and practical advice drawn from experience. This sharing of ideas culminated in the election of a new doctoral student representative: Paul Galtayrie, a first-year doctoral student.
These themes, which are at the heart of doctoral training, enabled participants to gain a better understanding of the challenges of a doctorate, while encouraging the sharing of knowledge and feedback. This first edition was particularly rich in exchanges and very productive for all the doctoral students present, marking an important stage in the structuring of doctoral life at ESTIA.
