From May to August 2026, ESTIA hosted Ding HAN, a Bachelor of Information Technology student at SAVONIA in Finland, on an internship through the EU4DUAL partnership.

Ding’s objective was to contribute to the design, development and validation of IoT devices intended for the control of rainwater-based irrigation systems. The prototypes developed during this placement were tested and validated using the ESTIA IoT Lab, which was set up as part of the CAP ELENA project. This work also ties in with the SUDWAMA and SUDOE projects, which focus on the circular economy of water, and in which ESTIA aims to roll out a Water Smart Grid centred on the collection and reuse of rainwater across its campus.
