Taking care of our students also means training engineers to be fulfilled

Vie du campus

ESTIA is proud to see its commitment to student well-being highlighted in an article recently published by Thotis Média, the reference platform for young people and higher education. In a context where mental health issues are playing an increasingly important role in student life, ESTIA has opted for a humane, attentive and proactive approach, to enable each student to develop in a serene, balanced and stimulating environment.

An engineering school on a human scale, focused on listening

What makes ESTIA special is its human scale and individual approach. This proximity enables the teaching teams, administrative staff, associations and the entire ESTIA community to get to know the students better, to spot signs of fragility more easily and to put in place rapid and appropriate support.

The school's management, aware of the contemporary issues relating to mental health in higher education, has placed this dimension at the heart of its training strategy.

An accessible and confidential psychological support system

For several years, ESTIA has offered its students a free and confidential psychological support service. Supervised by Isabelle Etcheverry, psychologist and student life referent, this service enables anyone who feels the need to talk or be accompanied to benefit from consultations in a caring environment.

The aim is clear: to get people talking about their psychological problems and offer practical support at the first signs of discomfort.

Prevention, awareness-raising and group initiatives

In addition to individual support, ESTIA regularly organises prevention and awareness-raising initiatives around mental health and well-being:

  • Theme-based workshops
  • Conferences on stress management and mental workloads
  • Communication campaigns on student health
  • Mental health first aid (MHFA) training for supervisors

These initiatives are carried out in conjunction with regional health authorities, student unions, student associations and other partners in student life.

Creating links, a daily priority

Finally, ESTIA's rich and dynamic community life is an important lever for student well-being. It fosters inclusion, solidarity, collective breathing space and personal development. Outings, sports, humanitarian projects, cultural events... so many opportunities to create social links and break out of isolation.

A key challenge for tomorrow's engineers

The school is convinced that mental health and well-being are not incidental, but fundamental to training responsible, well-balanced engineers who are capable of evolving over the long term in complex environments.

At ESTIA, taking care of students also means taking care of their future.
