A new doctor at ESTIA – Feriel ABDERRAHMANE

Monday 22 June 2026, Feriel ABDERRAHMANE successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled: ‘Use of hydrogen derived from marine renewable energy to jointly power electrically isolated islands and the vessels serving those islands (ENEZ-H2)’

His research, carried out at the ESTIA-Recherche and IRENav laboratories, under the supervision of Ionel Vechiu, Jean-Frédéric CHARPENTIER and Ignacio HERNANDO GIL.

This research helps to promote the integration of marine renewable energy and hydrogen into island energy systems, thereby opening up promising prospects for the decarbonisation of remote areas and maritime transport.
