Our students had the opportunity to step into the shoes of a software engineer at SOPHiA GENETICS for a morning. This visit gave the students a better understanding of the technological and organisational challenges faced by an innovative company at the intersection of software, data and healthcare.
On this occasion, Martin Vivies, Platform Technical Lead at SOPHiA GENETICS, led a highly interactive three-hour workshop. The students were able to gain a practical understanding of the role of a software engineer, discover the associated career progression opportunities, and appreciate the growing impact of artificial intelligence in this field.
